Lidsville Movie

Lidsville MovieDo you remember the 1970s TV series Lidsville? Well, Dreamworks is planning a 3D animated movie based on the popular show. Director Conrad Vernon (who co-directed Shrek 2 and Monsters vs Aliens) will helm the project. Sid and Marty Krofft, the creators of the original show, are actively involved in bringing their classic children's series to the big screen:

"Sid and I have had a longstanding relationship with Jeffrey Katzenberg and we're excited to bring Lidsville to DreamWorks Animation. It's incredible to envision a high-quality 3D animated movie being made out of one of our favorite shows."

For those who don't know Lidsville, the story revolved around a young boy who fell into the hat of Merlo the Magician (Charles Nelson Reilly) and arrived in Lidsville, a land of living hats. The series combined two types of characters: conventional actors in makeup filmed alongside performers in full mascot costumes. Here's the original opening of Lidsville:
